About MetroVac

The Metropolitan Vacuum Cleaner Company was launched in 1939 with a $50 gift card and an innovative idea. The early years were devoted solely to the distribution and retailing of vacuum cleaners, but by 1946 the main core of their business had become reconditioning and sale of vacuum cleaners. Jules Stern joined the business in 1951 on a full-time basis and helped introduce unique industry innovations. By 1964, the company had become commonly referred to as “MetroVac”.

From 1971 to 2000, MetroVac continued to introduce many new, different models from full-size vacuum cleaners to powerful compact canisters. Product lines and market penetration continued to grow and in 2008, MetroVac introduced more environmentally friendly options, and pet vacuum cleaners.

MetroVac also entered the automotive industry with a full line of car vacuum cleaners and car dryers, notably the Maser Blaster which can completely dry a full-size car in 15 minutes. 2019 marked the 80th anniversary of MetrVac as it prepares for an exciting future by focusing on innovative new products and adding employees to the manufacturing and management teams.
