Why Lead Free Wheel Weights?

Lead Free Wheel Weights

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) launched the National Lead Free Wheel Weight Initiative to educate people and get them to voluntarily move to lead alterative wheel weights. Lead wheel weights have been banned in the EU since 2005.

Currently the EPA’s program is only voluntary, but those who are still using lead wheel weights are strongly urged to make the change to lead free wheel weights.

Popular alternative wheel weights are being made with steel and zinc, and offer the same functionality, appearance, and fit characteristics as conventional wheel weights. These non-lead weights are designed and produced for cars with both steel and alloy wheels, and include a protective coating to ensure corrosion resistance.

WURTH USA now offers an expanded line of OEM-quality steel and zinc wheel weights as a greener alternative.
